"Chisos Mountains"
30" X 40" Oil on Canvas

The Big Bend Country, dissected by the mighty Rio Grande, which separates Texas from Mexico, is perhaps one of the most desolate, yet hauntingly beautiful regions in the country.  In stark contrast to the sweltering flatlands, the Chisos Mountains rise in purple grandeur, offering a sheltering haven to desert dwellers and travelers alike.

Eugene Thurston  (1896- 1993) is listed in "The Directory of Texas Artists" (published by the Plains Panhandle Museum).  He lived and painted in El Paso.
